While ringing in 2024, the teams of Billboard Latin and Billboard Español witnessed the emerging trends of Latin Music in this coming year. According to them it will gain momentum as they have gained popularity in 2023.
It’s fascinating to think about how Latin music will develop and become more diverse as we start a new year. The industry peers make some interesting predictions on the developments that will influence the Latin music scene in 2024.
They stated, “ In 2023, we have seen the acts of famous makers such as Edgar Barrera, MAG, and Ovy on the Drums, who graciously shared their predictions for 2023.
One of the renowned producers, MAG, has topped the charts for Bad Bunny, eloquently shared his excitement about the expansion at global level of various Latin music subgenres beyond reggaetón. He highlighted the growth of bachata and regional Mexican music, which have reached beyond their traditional boundaries and embarked popularity in new territories.
The success of Música Mexicana in 2023, with artists like Peso Pluma, Fuerza Regida, Carin León, and Grupo Frontera leading the way, is proof of the genre’s immense success compared to other Latin genres.

Barrera supported the fact and appreciated those who have stayed loyal to their sound and not coming under the pressure of following trends. Recently in an interview with Billboard, he focussed on the expansion of Mexican music into new markets outside of Latin America.
Similarly, Sony Music Latin’s Emiliano Vasquez, A&R, correctly projected bachata music’s rise in 2023. He pointed out that bachata is becoming more and more popular since it combines elements of pop, hip-hop, R&B, electronica, and trap music. Pop and urban musicians are now frequently seen using bachata into their promotional tracks, and gaining popularity.

Actually, we’ve witnessed in recent years how Mexican cumbia pioneers Los Angeles Azules have reinvented the genre by working along with some of the hottest talents in the business.
