Beyoncé recently created history a second time. The 42-year-old “Alien Superstar” musician’s track “Texas Hold ‘Em,” which also topped No. 2 on the Billboard 100 chart. This accomplishment made her become the first-ever Black female artist to top the Hot Country Songs chart, according to a report released by Billboard on Tuesday.
Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves’ duet “I Remember Everything” debuted at No. 1 for 20 weeks before “Texas Hold ‘Em,” which was officially serviced to country radio on February 13, dethroned it.
Through February 15, the song had 39,000 sales in the United States, reached 19.2 million official streaming, and 4.8 million all-format airplay viewers, according to Luminate.
The only other solo female artists to debut at the top of the chart are Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, the latter of whom did it in 2021 with the songs “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” and “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)”.
“In addition to making history, the 32-time Grammy winner became the first female artist to reach the top of Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Country Songs since October 1958, when the lists were transformed into all-encompassing genre song charts,” according to Billboard.
Other performers who have topped these charts are Ray Charles, Morgan Wallen, Justin Bieber, and Billy Ray Cyrus.
Marrying “Texas Hold ‘Em” on February 11, “16 Carriages” started at No. 38 on the Hot 100 chart and at No. 9 on the Hot Country Songs chart. The track received 10.3 million streams, 90,000 radio plays, and 14,000 sales as accomplished through it.

Soon after her Verizon commercial aired, Beyoncé shocked fans by releasing “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages” during the Super Bowl. She also shared a preview for her upcoming album, Act II, which is due in March. She appears to have taken inspiration from the iconic 1984 western Paris, Texas, for her Instagram teaser.
