In this exclusive interview, we Talk with Chelsea Rose Henson, better known as CHELZZZ, to discuss her journey from childhood karaoke sessions to becoming a versatile force in the music industry. Known for her unique blend of hip-hop, rap, and pop, CHELZZZ shares insights into her creative process, upcoming projects, and the challenges she’s faced in her pursuit of musical success.
Introduction: Meet Chelsea Rose Henson – A Versatile Hip-Hop and Pop Sensation
Can you tell us a little about yourself and how your musical journey began?
Music was always a part of my life. Growing up, my family parties revolved around doing karaoke. As I got older, I always knew that I was destined for the limelight. I began writing my own music in middle school, rapping to my basketball team to pump us up before games. Music was always my destiny, but growing up in Detroit really molded me into the hip-hop creator that I am today. My music is based on my past, present, and future—where I’ve been, what I’ve gone through, and where I want to be.
What inspired you to pursue a career in music? Any particular artists or genres that influenced your sound?
Hip-hop was always the most influential genre, especially living in the area I grew up in and being part of the inner city. I loved writing music and rapping long before everyone saw it as a way to get rich and the market became oversaturated. Music is in my DNA. I’m not like these other wanna-be rappers telling someone else’s story. My music and inspiration are based on real-life events from the past and my pursuit of the dream for the future.
Inside CHELZZZ’s Creative Process: Writing, Recording, and Collaborating
How would you describe your sound and style to someone who’s never heard your music before?
I’m versatile. I would compare myself to Doja Cat because I’ve successfully released both rap, hip-hop, and pop albums. I do all my own stunts—meaning my voice fluctuates, and I use that to my advantage.
What’s your typical songwriting process like? Do you start with the lyrics, melody, or a specific idea?
It really depends. Sometimes, I get inspired by a beat, and I typically write a hook first and then come up with a concept to base the verses on. I find it more difficult to write verses before hooks because they often don’t fully correlate with the message of the song. So, I try to think conceptually.

Do you collaborate with other artists, writers, or producers? If so, how do these collaborations shape your music?
I always use an engineer, but recently I’ve been branching out and working with new artists and producers. I don’t stick to one person for anything except my sound engineer at Icon Studios in Atlanta, GA, and my mixing and mastering engineer at Hood Star Studios in West Palm Beach, FL. I’m open to collaborating with artists doing similar numbers to me. I do charge for features if artists who are trying to grow are interested in promotion.
What’s the most challenging part of creating new music for you?
Finding the time to do it all. I run a very busy schedule, so just making time to create and sit with my own thoughts can be challenging. I try to make Fridays my creative days where I work on music and the book that I’m writing. Oh yeah, did I mention I’m writing a book? 😛
New Music from Chelsea Rose: The Story Behind “Relocated”
Let’s talk about your latest EP/album/single. What’s the story behind it? What inspired this project?
“Sample” is literally a sample of what’s to come from my fourth album, Relocated, dropping in late 2025. I’m working on a whole new catalog of bangers with features from artists like Sada Baby and many others. This will be the best album I’ve dropped so far. The inspiration for the album comes from relocating to Atlanta and finding myself in a new city. It’s about growing up, embracing change, and taking charge of my life.
Is there a specific theme or message you want to convey through this release?
You’ll hear a lot about my past in these tracks and what I’m striving to achieve moving forward. I’m dealing with a lot on a personal level—both good and bad. A lot of emotions will flood through the lyrics, and I think people will resonate with it. It’s also a very gangster perspective on things, with diverse beats. Every track tells a different story, and I think that’s what people will love about it.
Can you walk us through the process of creating this project? Any memorable moments from recording or writing that stand out?
Moving to ATL and finding my sweet spot with a new producer in a studio like Icon has been incredible. Sharing the same space as so many accomplished artists, seeing gold and platinum records on the walls—it motivates you. The project is still in the works, and I have about six songs completed that will drop before the full album is released. Stay tuned for updates as I continue writing and recording.
Chelsea Rose Henson’s Growth as an Artist: Personal and Professional Evolution
How has your music evolved since you first started? Have there been any significant changes in your style or approach?
I think my music flows more naturally now. With time, we all grow and evolve, and I’ve gotten better the more I practice. I haven’t changed much, but I do adapt to the industry’s demand. For example, songs are shorter now, so I’ve adjusted to that while still keeping my message uniquely mine.
What have you learned about yourself as both an artist and a person through your musical journey?
I’ve learned that the world doesn’t stop when you do, so you need to stay consistent. You have to grow and adapt while keeping it authentic.
Navigating the Music Industry: CHELZZZ’s Advice for Aspiring Artists
How do you navigate the challenges of the modern music industry? Any tips for independent or emerging artists?
Just keep being yourself. The industry is always changing, but you need to remain authentic instead of following trends or doing what you think people want. Be true to who you are.
Who are your biggest musical influences right now, and how do they inspire you?
Future, King Von, Pooh Sheisty, Doja Cat, Latto, Jeezy, 42 Dugg, with a tiny bit of Justin Bieber in there. Mix them all together, and you’ve got the Relocated album baking.
Connecting with Fans: How CHELZZZ Engages Her Audience
How do you connect with your fans? Do social media and live performances play a big role in your relationship with your audience?
I try to be an open book. I showcase my personal life, my relationship, and let people in on what I’m doing with my music. I message all my fans back personally on Instagram, and I try to make time to show them love because they’re what all of this is about.
What’s the best feedback or message you’ve received from a fan?
A fan once told me she was feeling suicidal, and we talked until she didn’t feel that way anymore. She’s still one of my biggest supporters, and we’ve become great friends.
Upcoming Projects: What’s Next for CHELZZZ
What can we expect next from you? Do you have any upcoming projects, tours, or collaborations in the works?
My Relocated album drops in 2025, but I have a single coming out on October 4th. It’s part of another project where I’m remixing old-school songs. Check out “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough Remix” dropping at midnight on all streaming platforms. I’m also headlining at the Rolling Loud Music Festival in Miami on December 15th.
Advice from CHELZZZ to Emerging Artists
What advice would you give to young or emerging artists trying to break into the industry?
Be yourself and watch out for scammers. A lot of people prey on artists trying to make it. Be careful who you trust.
Are there any mistakes you’ve made or lessons you’ve learned that you’d like to share to help others on their journey?
Yes, plenty of mistakes. Many of my fans know I was MIA for 18 months on a drug-induced binge. The struggles were mostly personal, and I’ll go deeper into that in my book.
Fun and Personal Insights into CHELZZZ’s Life
If you could collaborate with any artist, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Pop Smoke, hands down. We’d go hard on a track together.
Outside of music, what other passions or hobbies do you have? How do they influence your creative work?
I’m training to be an MMA fighter. It gives me an outlet and helps clear my mind. It’s helped me a lot with my anger, rage, and addiction issues.
Final Thoughts: CHELZZZ’s Message for Her Fans
What do you hope listeners take away from your music?
Motivation, hope, and encouragement. I want my music to impact people in a personal way. Everyone is different, and I think even non-hip-hop fans will find at least one song they can relate to.
