Lily Brooks O’Briant is an actress and recording artist that got her start on the stage. A born performer, she was the lead in the Broadway touring company of “Matilda the Musical” before being cast in the “Big Big Show” and later the role of Ella in the Apple TV series “Life by Ella”. Currently she plays Lucy Romalotti on the long running soap “The Young and The Restless”.
Music has always been part of her life, but in 2022 she started writing and recording original music. In 2023 she released the EP “Too Good To Be True” which included 5 hit singles. Lily kicked off 2024 with the release of “Romeo & Juliet” followed by “Seventeen”. Now she is turning a corner with her music with an upbeat, fun dance single called “I Like It”. I recently caught up with Lily Brooks O’Briant about this new music release and what the future holds for this very talented multi-hyphenate performer.
1. Can you tell us a little about your newest single?
‘I Like It’ is out this week. It’s unlike anything I’ve released before and is a different sound from me. I usually lean more into a singer/songwriter, indi-pop vibe with some pop country. This is more dance pop but was so much fun to write and record!
2. How would you describe the sound behind it?
It is a super fun dance pop song.
3. What was the inspiration for the track?
We wrote it Valentine’s week and as much as I love a good love song – I was NOT into writing one that week. Instead, I wrote about being into a guy who is totally wrong for me. I think it’s something a lot of people can relate to & I love the way it turned out.

4. What is your songwriting process?
I usually start with a concept & story but for this song my producer Matias, had a vibe in mind and one of my co-writers, Anastasia, Matias and I wrote the song from there.
5. What message do you hope your fans take away from this new single? I
It is a fun summer dance song. I want them to enjoy it, sing in the car with your besties and have fun! A little bonus about this song – I have a deluxe EP coming out in a couple of weeks with the acoustic version, a sped up version & a version with a featured artist.
6. If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I LOVE storytelling so Taylor Swift, Kelsea Ballarini, Sabrina Carpenter & Joshua Bassett are some favorites. It would be a dream come true to collaborate with any of them.

7. What’s next for you as an artist?
I have a LOT of new music coming out and some live performances too. I have several singles dropping this summer and a new EP coming at the end of the summer that tells a full story.
8. Where can we follow you on social media?
