It is the upcoming music biopic on the late Amy Winehouse produced by the StudioCanal and Monumental Pictures.
Marisha Abela, up-coming British actress has played the role of Winehouse in the feature from director Sam Taylor-Johnson famous for 50 Shades of Grey. In the UK and Ireland, the movie will be in theaters from April 12 and in US it will be released on the May 10, 2024.
The biopic film is written by the Nowhere Boy and Control scribe Matt Greenhalgh.Tthe biopic was directed with the full support of The Amy Winehouse Estate, Universal Music Group and Sony Music Publishing. In the film, many of her songs are featured.
The multi-winning British soul topped the charts for tracks “Rehab,” “Valerie” and “Love Is a Losing Game.” In a short span of time, she sold more than 30 million records worldwide. While she enjoyed the success, Winehouse struggled with addiction and intrusive media attention. Due to alcohol overdose, she lost her life in an accident on 23, 2011 at the age of 27.

Alongside Abela in the movie are Lesley Manville as Amy’s grandmother Cynthia, Eddie Marsan and Juliet Cowan as Amy’s parents Mitch and Janis Winehouse, and Jack O’Connell as Amy’s ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil.
